I looked at Kala in shock since I had no idea Caldoro’s bounty was that high. There must have been a lot of people that wanted him dead.

Kala looked back at me with a smile on her face.

“Is this correct?” I asked.

I knew I’d fucked up, bringing back a child without permission, giving her a sphere. I’d made Kala look bad to the point where people questioned her judgment. That could set back many of her research projects. And it was only fair I be punished for almost letting someone like Caldoro kill me. “I’m truly sorry.”

Kala placed the tip of her finger on her jaw and looked at me grinning, and I knew something bad was coming. “For now, you will be sleeping at the foot of my bed. After I dine, we will begin running tests on you.”

“Can’t you just cut something off and reattach it to see how long it takes for me to heal?”

“We might try that as well.”

“And why not sleep in my kennel?”

She looked astonished in a very fake way. “Oh, but you might miss seeing my ass.”

I knew you weren’t going to forget that.

I leaned insolently against a wall as servants came in with food. Several worried glances were slanted my way. I felt like yelling “Boo!” At them.

Once Kala finished eating, she spoke again. “My father contacted me and the subject of your request came up. It would have taken longer for his approval, but he made an exception since you are my first vassal. Your application was approved as of two days ago.”

“So, I can form my company now that I’ve enough credits for a start-up.”

“Yes, we can start trading with your home planet. I’ll not take any percentage of profit as long as you get me fresh Earth animals. I have already started terraforming the fourth moon that is most similar to earth. It will be done in two years, a place where the endangered animals of Earth can thrive and be petted by me.” Kala smiled sweetly. “So I’m really not all that mad at you.”

Ah, that’s why the cunt is not cutting me to pieces right now. I’ve gifted her with a new petting zoo.

She rambled on and I learned she’d been wanting to help the animals on Earth for a while now, studying their anatomy and habitat. She loved tigers the most. She’d found footage of some being killed. Just telling me about it brought real emotion to her voice. She somehow managed not to cry. Cooling down, she mentioned going to Earth and killing those responsible.

“Back to your company,” she said. “Yes, you can incorporate and gather people, but you’ll need several big missions to properly stabilize this side-line you’ve planned. I believe the best way for you to continue is to go to the front lines and be yourself. Once I’ve augmented you some more.
